Reiki is a form of alternative medicine called energy healing. It is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing to the mind, body, and spirit. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which "universal energy" is transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the client to encourage emotional or physical healing. Reiki aides in the regeneration of this life force energy providing a more spiritual and physical well-being. A Reiki practitioner holds their hands near or on the body of the person being treated.
